Meet some of our Faculty...

Ms. Mary Pat Donoghue

Our vice principal, Ms. Mary Pat Donoghue, can honestly say that she feels quite at home here at St. Jerome. A 1983 graduate of the school, she began her teaching career here in 1991. She is the eighth child in her family to have attended St. Jerome School.

Ms. Donoghue holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Maryland in College Park. In the spring of 2003, she received a Master of Science in Administration at Trinity College in Washington, D.C. She is currently the full-time vice principal. Her office is located on the third floor of the school, in the intermediate wing. She would like all parents and students to know that they are welcome to come and see her at any time.

Ms. Donoghue loves reading, spending time with friends, and listening to Irish music.

Heather Campos - K1 Class

Raised in Hyattsville, educated at St. Jerome School, Elizabeth Seton High School, and the University of Maryland, Heather Campos made her professional decision to continue as a teacher here to remain a part of "a wonderful, caring community." Miss Heather's eight-year tenure at St. Jerome is evenly divided between four years as a teacher and four years working in the school's aftercare and Summer camp program and as a teacher's aide. Her interests are reading, movies, arts and crafts. Her reward working with our children is her role as an important "part of their growth and learning." Her wish: that "all parents take an interest in their children."

Mr. Mike Murray - 3A CLASS

Hello, my name is Mike Murray and I am in my ninth year teaching third graders at St. Jerome’s. I completed my undergraduate studies in 1985 at the Catholic University of America. I am currently on schedule to receive an M.S. in education in December. As a teacher, I feel that it is essential to connect with my students in an environment outside of the classroom. As a result, I have been involved in many activities ranging from coaching athletes to moderating various extracurricular clubs. My years at St. Jerome’s have truly been a joy. The warmth that exists within these walls can only be realized through one’s personal experience. It is this warmth between teachers and students that commands one’s attention upon entry into the school environment. I have been blessed to work with many wonderful children and adults in the S. J. community. I feel that my experiences here have certainly made me a better person. I am looking forward to many more years and many more happy experiences in a community that is second to none.

Ms. Connie Barnes - 3B CLASS

I have lived in more than one state and in another country. I love to read and have a special interest in art. I especially love arts and crafts. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Kindergarten from Bowling Green State University and a Masters of Education degree in Reading and Literacy from Walden University. Though this is my eighth year of teaching here at St. Jerome, I have taught previously for Prince George's County Public Schools and substituted for various school systems.

My mission is to instill in students that learning can be fun and is an ongoing process throughout life. I want the students to have the desire to always do their best and not to give up when problems arise and that "I can't " is not an acceptable option. I want the students to believe in themselves positively because that belief is essential to their success.

Ms. Cox - 5A CLASS

Ms. Cox is a graduate of Mico Teachers’ College and Howard University. Her major is elementary education. She has been working in the field of education for thirty years. Ms. Cox joined the St. Jerome staff in 1986.
