HOMEWORK SHEET --1B -- WEEK OF:  11-17-08     NAME:___________________

1B  Notes

*Gym days this week:  MONDAY & TUESDAY.

*Library day for 1B is each Thursday.  Please remember to return library books in a timely fashion.

*The cold and flu season is upon us!  If you have not yet done so, getting a flu shot for yourself and your child is strongly recommended, especially if your child is prone to asthma.  I am working with the children to help them to remember and use “healthy practices”, such as covering their mouths when sneezing or coughing (or doing so into the “crook” of the elbow) washing hands, etc.  Hopefully these practices will help to minimize the number of viral infections/re-infections during the season.  Please note that if a child has a fever, the Health Department states that the child must be “fever-free” for a minimum of a full 24 hours before returning to school (as colds/flu are most contagious during this period).  Thus, if a child must be sent home from school due to an elevated temperature, he/she should remain at home the next day as well to be “on the safe side”, as fevers often go down in the morning, only to reappear later in the day.

*“Thank you to all who so generously made donations to our classroom library during the Book Fair!  I know the children and I will enjoy using these wonderful books  (we’ve already read the “Spiders” book, and all of us were fascinated!).

*This Friday, November 21st is “Picture Day” . . . . FINALLY !   The children may wear whatever clothing in which you wish them to be photographed.  New payment “envelopes”/order forms were sent home last week.  If you wish your child’s photo to be taken, please fill out the requested information and enclose your payment.  Please remember to select the background against which you’d like your child photographed (color, etc.).

*Many children are in need of new crayons, gluesticks, and pencils.  Please check with your child to see if he/she needs “supplies replenishment”.  The children may have a box of 16 or 24 crayons (as more than 24 would be too difficult for young children to keep track of and manage).  Please remember to label all of these items with your child’s name.

*Have a safe and happy week!
