                                            BIBLE PASSAGES FOR MEMORIZATION

Please work on memorizing the following Bible passages.  Give some thought to the meaning of each passage.  You should also be able to identify each passage by the name of its “book”, its chapter, and its verse (i.e., “Proverbs 3:5” indicates that this particular passage is from the book of Proverbs, the 3rd chapter, and the 5th verse).  Passages that begin with a 1 or a 2 should be read as “First” or “Second” (for example, 1 Samuel is read as “First Samuel”, etc.).  Please keep this sheet at home, in your parent’s care, for future reference and practice.

2 Corinthians 5:7 – For we walk by faith, not by sight.

John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have life everlasting.

Mark 12:30 (This is actually Mark 12:30-31, but identifying it as Mark 12:30 will be acceptable)– Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, all thy mind, all thy soul, and all thy strength, and love others as you love yourself.*

Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Proverbs 3:5 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.

Psalms 19:14 – Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.

1 Samuel 16:7 – For man looks upon the outward appearance, but God looks upon the heart.

  *  You may substitute the word “your” for “thy”, if this is easier for you.
