Mrs. Connie Barnes
I have lived in more than one state and in another country. My
father was in the Air Force, so I was lucky to be able to live in Tripoli, Libya
for three years as a child. It was an
experience I’ll never forget, especially being able to ride a camel. I love to read and have a special interest in
art. I especially love arts and crafts.
I also love going on long walks through wooded areas. I am married to a wonderful husband and have
two sons and two daughters. I also have
a dog and two cats.
I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and
Kindergarten from Bowling Green
State University
and a Masters of Education degree in Reading
and Literacy from Walden
University. Though this
is my 16th year of teaching here at St. Jerome School,
I have taught previously for Prince
George's County Public Schools and substituted for
various school systems. My teaching experience includes teaching a
kindergarten/first grade class, a second/third grade class, a fifth grade
class, and substituting for grades 1-6 and special education.
My teaching mission is to instill in students that learning can be
fun and is an ongoing process throughout life. I want the students to have the
desire to always do their best and not to give up when problems arise, and that
"I can't" is not an acceptable option. I want the students to believe
in themselves positively because that belief is essential to their success.
