5/17/12- (7) graded assignments were returned this week. Please review Week 22:3x5 vocabulary cards, 3-Writing Assignments completed using the Mary Knoll Ministries Missions Magazine: Topic-Celebrating Creation “Taking Care of the Earth”. Please review the Poetry journal/the General Notes journal for credit earned, 1-Shurley English assignment pg. 467-Writing Activity 37 and 1-Math assignment Lesson 19-Prime Numbers. Please review, sign and return any assignment 80% and below. Thank you for your involvement and participation.

5/10/12-Graded assignments returned please review the Week 21 Spelling/Vocabulary Test and the Math journal for Lesson 18-New Concepts 4-7 and 24-27(8 problems in all).

5/3/12- 7 graded assignments were returned this week. Please review the Saxon Assignment on Loose-Leaf for Lesson 15, Saxon Math assignment: Rounding Whole Numbers-Lesson 16, please see the Poetry journals for several graded assignments. 3x5 vocabulary cards for-Week 19, Chapter 2 Review-The Bronze Bow (see the general notes journal), Week 20: Spelling Test and Saxon Math Cumulative Test #2. Please review and sign any assignments 80% and below.

4/17/12- 7- graded assignments were returned today. Please review the 5 Creative Writing assignments found the Poetry Journal (four poems and an analysis), Math Lesson 14 Written Practice problems 13-19 and 25-28, 29 submitted for credit, and The Garden of Gethsemane discussion packet. Please review and sign any assignments 80% and below.

4/3/12- Reminders: Wednesday, April 4, is a 1:00pm dismissal day and the Easter/Spring Break begins. Classes will commence again on Monday, April 16^th. 8-12 Graded assignments were returned today that include: the Shurley-English assignment pg. 17-Classroom Practice 8, Social Studies pg. 31 – Julius Caesar Roman Dictators, Its All Greek to Me vocabulary assignment pg. 27(no 3x5 vocabulary cards this week, English-see pg. 12 Writing Sentences assignment, The Aeneid the Study Guide for credit, The Aeneid the Assessment Ch. 13, Synonyms assignment-“What does Not Belong?”pg.18, the Aeneid the Reading Record see 3x5 cards, and 3-5 Latin class work assignments included for most students.

Week 17: 3x5 vocabulary cards dated 3/12/12 collected 3/19/12, Please review the “5” EASY-A’s Assignments (All assignments graded and returned inside the Math Folder): 1. Lesson 13 pgs.71,72 (See Loose-Leaf pages) problems #9, 13-17, 19-21, & 24 =100pts. 2. Five (5) Basic Saxon Practice Test= 20pts each= 100pts. 3. The Fractions/Mixed Numbers assignment 2@ 50pts each, =100pts. 4. The Pi Day packet = 100pts. 5. The Mysterious Math (Warm-up) Puzzle. = 100pts.

2/28/12 – Six (6) graded assignments returned today please review – Week 13: 3x5 cards, Week 14: Vocabulary Quiz dated 2/25/12, pg. 13 Shurley Grammar Classroom Practice 6, Literature-Chapter 11 Assessment “The Aeneid”, (2) Math assignments Lesson 11-Part One problems:1-5;27-30 (New Concepts), and Part Two- completed on Loose-Leaf problems 6-19 (Math Basics).

2/21/12 – Five (5) graded assignments returned today please review pg.70 The Roman Republic (Compare/Contrast-Ancient Rome), pg. 31 Analogies adding relationships, Week 12: 3x5 cards, Week 12: Vocabulary Quiz and the Chapter 10: The Aeneid (See the Assessment-OBT).

Please review and sign if necessary the Math journal – two assignments graded- “Counting in Chinese” dated 1/23/12 and Investigation 1 (one) the birth month Frequency Table (date 1/30/12), the Week 10: Vocabulary Quiz-1/27/12, A Chinese New Year’s Tale, and Warm-up #41: The Book of Romans –word search.

Note: Some students have been issued Study Check Notices for missing assignments and 0%pts were earned.

1/23/12- Khung Hay Fat Choy! Happy Chinese New Year! Monday, January 23, 2012 – February 9, 2013. Please note that homeroom #6A will be celebrating the Chinese New Year in the classroom throughout the month. We will complete math lessons – counting in Chinese, we will speak the Chinese Language using a CD for instruction, we will make “Red” (the color of prosperity)Chinese Door Hanger to be hung on a door knob at home and we will complete many more Chinese New Year Activities and then finally we will enjoy a Chinese Food, Fun and Fellowship at lunchtime. Please review and sign if necessary-Math Lesson 9,pg.48 Practice Set a-h, Week 7: Vocabulary Test, Week 7 Vocabulary/Analogy 3x5 cards, Social Studies: Greek Geography pg. 60-Graphic Organizer, Vocabulary Preview pg. 61 and Religion journals were checked for content needed for the test on Friday, 1/13/12 .

1/3/12 (Tuesday) - Happy New Year! Classes resume. Updates/Reminders 5^th/6^th grades are responsible for Café Brown Bag Lunches this Thursday, January 5, 2012. Please prepare and bring a lunch (or two, or three) to feed those in need who visit the Café weekly.

Re: Memorization/Recitation Assignments – Please review the 4x6 study cards prepared in class on Monday, October 31, 2011 with your child at home. Students have been actively committing to memory the “Peace Prayer” written by St. Francis of Assisi. Please consider helping your child with this assignment by allowing practice time in the evenings at home or in the car, so each student can be prepared to recite their assignment by or before Tuesday, November 15, 2011. Thank you in advance for you cooperation and involvement.
