“Most of you know the story of Saint Katharine Drexel, one of the great saints raised up by this local Church. When she spoke to Pope Leo XIII of the needs of the missions, the Pope – he was a very wise Pope! – asked her pointedly: 'What about you? What are you going to do?'. Those words changed Katharine’s life, because they reminded her that, in the end, every Christian man and woman, by virtue of baptism, has received a mission. Each one of us has to respond, as best we can, to the Lord’s call to build up his Body, the Church.”

Mission Work

“Go into the whole world”, the Risen Christ still commands us today (Mk 16:15). Relying on his companionship, St. Jerome parishioners can offer their witness of an authentic and fully human life of love to those in need in other places of the United States and the world.

Prayer for missionaries

O almighty God, Lord of the harvest of souls, we ask you to guide and bless all who have gone forth to preach the Gospel. Endow them with the gifts of generosity and concern. Send your Holy Spirit on them, that he may strengthen them in weakness, comfort them in trials and direct their efforts...We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
