St. Jerome Catholic Youth Organization Sports Programs (CYO)

Volunteers are always, always needed, and remember that the time you spend helping out can add up towards your volunteer hours. Please check with the sponsor to confirm what is acceptable. If you have any questions, please contact us at mdterps87@gmail.com.

IMPORTANT:
ALL COACHING STAFF and/or ASSISTANTS must complete certification held by the Archdiocese and must be completed prior to the sport you wish to coach and/or assist.  For any questions please email mdterps87@gmail.com.

St. Jerome Coaches, Assistants, Volunteers...Important Information
Ms. Donoghue has asked us to pass this very important information along to you. Each volunteer must be FINGERPRINTED through the Archdiocese of Washington.   There is a charge for fingerprinting.  Volunteers must read a brochure, sign the back sheet (the sheet needs to be turned in too), and attend the Protecting God's Children Workshop to be cleared.  You must have ALL three aspects completed in order to work in the schools, volunteer or coach/assist with the CYO teams.  You will then need to go on the Archdiocese of Washington web site to set up an appointment to have fingerprints done and to attend the workshop.  Please take care of this soon because the fingerprint process takes several weeks.  We will be unable to allow you to coach or volunteer unless you have received your clearance and are in 100% compliance.

Registration:
Registration with the CYO must happen at the beginning of every school year.  If you have not yetregistered, please do so at www.washcyo.com and follow the directions for online registration.  If you have registered already you will need to go in and change your daughter’/son’s grade level to the incoming year grade.  Please turn in the updated printed CYO On-Line Registration Program Form at your child’s first sport registration.  You then must register for each sport during registration date and times.

Registration / Uniforms
For all sports there will be a required uniform deposit and a sport registration fee.  The uniform deposit and registration fee depends on the students’ grade and sport being played.  Uniform deposit will be held during the particular sport season.  After each sport season a limited time will be given to return the uniforms.  Once that time is up, deposits for unreturned uniforms will be kept.

Player Participation:
All registered players are encouraged to attend practices and scheduled games.  We know that at times it is not possible due to conflicting schedules, but it is very important to the team if everyone attends practices and games.  It is also very important for the coaches to be notified ahead of time if a player will not be attending a scheduled game so they can plan accordingly.
